Gotta admit, I thought that my brides would be more creative than they were across the board – and then I got the email from Nicolette Mechem, a bride who is getting married on Valentine’s Day here on Vieques Island. She’s doing a “non-traditional” wedding in every sense of the word and that’s where she drew her advice from – and it made me laugh so hard.
Our independent panel of judges (that’s me and the interns after having coffee) decided the Nicolette not only earned this prize – she DESERVES IT!!!
QUESTION: What’s the most unusual advice you can give a bride?
NICOLETTE’S ANSWER: Make sure your guests are comfortable and have fun. I think if you get everybody introduced and silly at the first event, the wedding itself is going to be a blast. So we’re kicking off with a “Stache Bash” (don’t worry – I got mustache tattoos for fingers for my guests who don’t actually want to wear mustaches – the big party poopers) and then, during the dance party with at my wedding reception, we’re going to get “wiggy” with it.
There’s something else really unusual about Nicolette’s wedding that I have to keep myself – can’t let all the cats out of the bag at once, but knowing what she has in mind, I think mustaches and wigs are possibly some of the most creative suggestions (about to be implemented) that I’ve ever heard. And I’ve gotta be honest – I had nothing to do with this. Nicolette is a bride with her own ideas and doesn’t need any additional creativity from me.
“The Wedding A to Z” by Linda Hampshire and Karima El-Hakkaoui is going in the mail to bride-to-be Nicolette today with our kudos on her creativity. Cannot wait for this wedding!
Much love from the whole crew at Weddings in Vieques!
