Weddings in Vieques is sad to say goodbye to Megan, the intern we’ve had the pleasure of working with recently. She’s headed back to Texas for summer classes at her university. She was our “intern experiment” and she was fantastic! Soooo… we’re accepting applications for paid internships starting now.
I’m looking for people interested in event planning, and wedding planning specifically. This is an intense internship, but it’s located on a beautiful Caribbean island. You can spend your off-time sitting on the beach or sipping a pina colada at a waterfront bar. Rough life, eh?
You will learn all about the destination wedding planning business from start to finish. You will learn to market to new clients, pre-plan a wedding, choose the right venue for the right bride, coordinate with vendors, invoice and track budgets for brides, create centerpieces and decor, create a flawlass “Plan B” for any event in case of inclement weather, manage nervous brides, grooms, moms, dads, and crazy wedding guests, and how to execute the whole plan over a multi-day period to keep everybody on schedule, meet the clients’ expectations, and deliver an unbelievable destination wedding weekend of activities to every guest who attends. There is a stipend attached to the internship, commensurate with experience and the length of your internship — but as a former intern myself up in Washington, DC, I can tell you that you will gain years of experience in just a few short months that will help catapult you into one of the better event planning firms back at home when you graduate.
Please send your cover letter and resume to me at firstname.lastname@example.org. Put the word “INTERNSHIP” in the subject line. I need interns now, but I’m also hiring for next fall and next winter and next summer too — so if you’re looking ahead, go ahead and get in touch now. Stipend is paid 50% at the beginning of your internship and 50% on your last day. You are responsible for your housing and transportation while you’re here, but we’ll do our best to help you find something reasonable for the length of your stay.
Let me be clear on one thing — this is not a free Caribbean vacation!!! We will work your butt off. You won’t work harder than us, but you’ll work almost as much and you’ll learn everything you need to know in order to determine if destination wedding planning — or event planning in general — is right for you.
Happy Wedding Planning from Weddings in Vieques!
