A How-To Guide for Traveling to Vieques and Culebra Islands

Vieques and Culebra Islands are a quick flight or ferry ride, from the main island of Puerto Rico

I bet most of you have seen Vieques or Culebra mentioned online or in travel magazines. Both “Jewels of the Spanish Virgin Islands” remain a mystery for most traditional tourists because they’re not highly commercialized like the U.S. and British Virgin Islands. That’s what makes it such a perfect spot for destination weddings and romantic honeymoons!

Vieques has historic lighthouses, forts, and sugar cane ruins

Many visitors to Puerto Rico are intimidated by the potential stress of trying to get over to and back from one of the little islands in a day. It can be done easily, but you’re doing yourself a major disservice if you don’t stay overnight on Vieques so that you can visit its famous bioluminescent bay. Sure, there are other biobays in Puerto Rico. But Vieques has the brightest bioluminescent bay in the world!

Don’t be intimidated, whether you’re planning your wedding or your honeymoon. Just read my blog in Caribbean Blue Book for the ins and outs of getting from between the big island and the little islands BEFORE you make your travel plans.

Until next time, happy wedding planning from Weddings in Vieques and Sandy Malone Weddings & Events!
