Hola Brides and Grooms!
As I was getting ready to leave my house this morning, I stopped to spray my favorite perfume on my wrist. It is my signature scent, and for a long time it was the same perfume I wore on my wedding day. But they discontinued that one. Boo-hoo! I had to find a new favorite. And I think I did a pretty good job with this one – Vera Wang’s “truly pink.” But the one I wore my wedding day was my most favorite perfume ever because every time I put it on, I remembered walking down the aisle. In fact, my wedding day was the first time that I ever wore that perfume. I think I actually picked up this tip from a bridal magazine when I was getting married but I’ve shared it with brides ever since. Choose a brand-new perfume, bath gel, and body cream to wear on your wedding day for the first time ever. By doing so, you will create a “scent memory” for both you and the groom for the rest of your lives.

Happy Monday everybody!
It’s a beautiful afternoon and I am inside working. Poop! I’ll take a break from the un-fun stuff for a few minutes, and write a quick blog. I’ve noticed that brides on reality television shows (yes, I’ve been watching them again) seem to wear an awful lot of jewelry. Sometimes, they even go out and rent jewelry. Sometimes elaborate jewelry is just right for the style of dress the bride has chosen. Other times, it just looks cheesy. Fake jewelry is always fake jewelry, and most women can spot it. So keep that in mind when the nice lady behind the counter at Macy’s is trying to convince you that the giant chandelier earrings will look real on your wedding day. They won’t. Believe me. This is truly one of those times when less is more. If you have real bling, wear real bling. But as much as possible, keep the fake stuff in your closet on your wedding day.

Happy Saturday everybody!
It’s not often that I have a Saturday to myself. Usually by this time on a Saturday morning, I would already be at the office supervising our staff as they load the vehicles with all the lights, tiki torches, flowers, and assorted materials that we need to make a regular villa look like a spectacular wedding venue. It’s not an easy project, I assure you. So what does the wedding planner do when she finally has a Saturday off? She makes plans with all the important people in her life that she doesn’t usually have time to play with on a weekend. But before I take off and disappear for the day, I wanted to post a quick blog about a topic that has come up a lot lately. What should the groom where to his Caribbean destination wedding?

Hi there everybody!
Yep, you guessed it. Another wedding reality TV-inspired blog. I just can’t help it. Today we’re talking about wedding shoes. Specifically bridal shoes. What to wear, and what not to wear. Today’s inspiration — a bride who did a face plant in her wedding gown on national television. No really, it was quite a sight! Flat on her face. And you know, getting back up in a wedding gown isn’t something you do quickly or easily. Splat!!! And you are down until people help you up. In this case, I believe the bride caught her stiletto heel in the hem of her gown. That wouldn’t have happened in better shoes.

OMG!!!
Okay, I admit it! I was surfing the web for a blog idea for tonight and I came across the most horrifying article on another wedding website. The website is called Groom Groove and I check it out every so often because it makes me giggle. A little like opposition research — what the experts are telling the grooms about the wedding process. Anyway, much to my dismay, I came across an entire section of the web site entitled “backing out of your wedding.”

Happy Monday!
Okay, so you and your fiance and your parents have discussed your photography options by now, right? And now you know if you absolutely must have film instead of digital, and you know whether you want to see each other before the ceremony to take your formal shots, or if you’d rather wait til after the ceremony so you still get that special look on his face when he sees you coming down the aisle for the first time. Now you need to talk with the actual photographer!

Hello there!
It’s been pouring rain for days in Vieques… I am so glad I don’t have a wedding this weekend! It’s funny because although my brides are always looking for clear blue skies on their wedding day, most photographers prefer a somewhat cloudy sky. Better light, less glare, more interesting background, whatever. The weather is the one thing I can’t do anything about one way or the other, so I don’t worry about it. Every wedding I plan has an inclement weather “Plan B.” But I’ve always thought it was funny that the photographers are thrilled about what bride’s consider to be “ho hum” weather. And that leads me to today’s topic, choosing a wedding photographer for your destination wedding.

Good morning everybody!
Once upon a time, in a land not very far away, wedding guests knew how to properly respond to a wedding invitation. And once upon a time, there didn’t have to be a pre-addressed, pre-stamped response card in the invitation in order for guests to favour the hostess with the courtesy of a response. Nowadays, it takes a stick of dynamite and more than a few nasty voicemails to get some of your guests to reply even though you’ve already done all the hard work. What gives?

Hola Mis Novias y Novios!
I’m back to tell you all about Corinne Fager and Peter Ahlberg’s beautiful sunset wedding ceremony on the roof deck at the incomparable Quinta Jabali on Monday evening. Surrounded by only their immediate family, Corinne and PJ exchanged vows in what was a very personal and meaningful ceremony with a breathtaking backdrop of the Caribbean.

Hello Everybody!
Okay, time to get caught up on my blogging about recent weddings. I’ve been too busy to write this week. But last weekend we had New Jersey in the house! On Saturday, Alexis Fradkin and Matt Connelly, of Bergenfield, New Jersey, said “I do” on the bluff at Punta Martineau, with views of the water and the big island of Puerto Rico in the background. Corinne Fager and PJ Ahlberg, also of New Jersey, got married on Monday evening at Quinta Jabali. But first, let’s talk about Alexis and Matt’s wedding!
