Special Offer on Caribbean Elopement Packages on Vieques Island, Puerto Rico

June 25th, 2008 Sandy Malone

Hey there!

Okay, so I don’t usually use my blog to shamelessly advertise — but today I’m gonna do it!  The prices of everything, everywhere have been going up with the price of gas, and all the vendors I deal with have been raising their prices incrementally over the past couple of months.  As a result, I’m going to have to raise the price of my “Keep It Simple” Elopement Package (currently $1,500) in the near future.  But before I do that, I’m going make a special offer and extend the current pricing to new clients who book their elopements with me for the rest of 2008 and 2009 and sign the contract before the end of July.

A Southern Belle and a Gentleman Exchange Vows on Sun Bay Beach — Mary and Edward’s Big Day May 31st

June 24th, 2008 Sandy Malone

Hola!

We finally got some rain here last night — yay!  While the rest of the United States has been flooding for weeks, it’s been really dry here in Vieques.  Because we’re such a tiny little island, much of the rain headed for San Juan just scoots right by us, and lately we’ve been doing rain dances just so we can save our lawns.  Last night, we had an awesome thunder bumper and plenty of rain to cool things down here and tamp down the dust on the dirt roads out to the best beaches.

I still haven’t finished writing about all the beautiful weddings we did in May, so I’d better get back on that before I’m writing about July weddings.  Today, I’ll tell you all about the beautiful wedding that Mary Bounds and Edward Gregory hosted for their friends and family here on the last weekend in May.

Make Sure Your Rain Plan is Watertight — Or the Importance of Having a Solid “Plan B” for your Island Wedding

June 20th, 2008 Sandy Malone

Hi Everybody!

I’ve been watching the weather radar closely this week because they say we’re in for a “tropical wave.”  Apparently, that means we’re supposed to get some significant rain for a couple of days.  And we really, really need it.  Lately, my husband has been making a lot of jokes about how we clearly live on a desert island because it’s so dry here that everything is starting to die in our yard.  I suppose I should go set up a sprinkler, but the last time I did that, all my Puerto Rican neighbors made fun of me.  Down here, there’s a belief that if it doesn’t grow on its own, it isn’t meant to grow at all.  Anyway, we’re hoping for a few days of the wet stuff to help the grass and tamp down the dust on the dirt roads out to some of the best beaches.  It’s getting kind of yucky on that drive.   But the weather is what inspired today’s blog entry.

It’s a Wedding, Not Spring Break! How to Keep the Party Under Control at Your Destination Wedding Weekend

June 17th, 2008 Sandy Malone

Hello Everybody!

Weddings are known for bringing out the “best” and “worst” in wedding guests, and every wedding, I see brides and grooms preparing for the worst possible scenarios in the hopes that everybody behaves themselves and the best-case scenario happens instead.  However, there are always a few things you cannot control during a destination wedding weekend in the Caribbean, and one of them is how messed up your guests choose to get while partying at your wedding.

Ukuleles and Sarongs at Playa Grande — TJ and Scott’s June 14th Elopement on Vieques Island

June 15th, 2008 Sandy Malone

Hola!

It was a busy weekend here in Vieques.  We had a wedding — an elopement actually — on Saturday.  TJ Tate and Scott Warner, from St. Augustine, Florida, exchanged vows on the beach at Playa Grande in one of the happiest and most romantic ceremonies I’ve ever witnessed.

June 9th, 2008 Sandy Malone

Hello there!

Today, I’m continuing my quest to blog about all of my awesome clients who got married in May.  And the underlying theme of this one is: Bigger doesn’t mean Better!  Karen James and Chris Hallam were married on Wednesday, May 21st, under a palm tree on Sun Bay beach here on Vieques Island.  It was a beautiful wedding.  Only 12 guests in attendance kept it intimate and special.

June 8th, 2008 Sandy Malone

Hola!

As promised, I’m telling you about all the weddings in May one at a time, but in no particular order.  Today I’m going to jump back to May 17th because it was quite possibly the most fun my husband and I have ever had at a wedding reception, as planners or as guests.

An Enchanted Wedding in the Sky — Erin and Marc’s Wedding at Casa Cielo on May 24, 2008

June 4th, 2008 Sandy Malone

Hi Everybody!

I’m way overdue in writing about all of the beautiful weddings we did in May, so I’m going to tackle them one at a time (not necessarily in order) and get caught up.  Erin Provost and Marc DeLucia were married at Casa Cielo, high up in the hills of Vieques Island, in a wedding that was described by one guest as “enchanted,” on Saturday, May 24, 2008.

I’m Still Standing… After Seven Weddings in May! (And the things nobody told me about when I decided to become a Vieques destination wedding planner)

June 2nd, 2008 Sandy Malone

Hola Everybody!

I just wanted to write a quick note and let everybody know that we survived May!!! Yay!  Seven beautiful weddings, seven gorgeous brides, 350 wedding guests, and everybody survived.  Quite a coup!  Obviously I haven’t been blogging because I’ve been busy working with clients and vendors — that’s a good thing.  I know what my priorities are.  But I’ve gotten lots of email from those of you who miss my musings, so I’ll get back on it as fast as I can.  I have all sorts of things to tell you about.  Today, I just want to take a quick minute to talk about the things that Weddings in Vieques does for our clients that aren’t on our website, on our contracts, or on your minds at this point in your planning process.  Having an experienced destination wedding planner on Vieques can be crucial to making sure that you and your guests have a fantastic wedding weekend no matter what’s going on behind the scenes.
