Effects of Pre-Wedding Nerves on the Bride’s Skin

May 16th, 2008 Sandy Malone

Hi there!

Today was probably the most fun I’ve had yet as a wedding planner.  Sarah and Greg’s family and friends are absolutely hilarious!  The bride is the oldest of five girls, and they’re all here and they’re all gorgeous and so much fun.  Both dads are a  hoot — called me early this morning for directions to the Off-Track Betting place so they could place their Preakness bets — apparently, coming down here for a wedding on Preakness weekend was a serious gift to their children.  The dads are completely different — Sarah’s dad is allll New Jersey and Greg’s dad is totally Canadian, but they’ve bonded through a mutual love of the ponies.  The entire group had a blast — and the wedding rehearsal was even fun too.  But more about that later.  I’ve gotta write quick and finish loading the car for their reception setup tomorrow.  We just got home from the rehearsal dinner at the Coqui Fire Cafe.  Today’s “real” blog topic is the physical effects of stress and nerves on the bride.  Inspired by the lovely Sarah McKeon.

I Got the “Stuffing the Destination Wedding Welcome Bag Blues”

May 14th, 2008 Sandy Malone

Hola Mis Novias y Novios!

It was another beautiful day in Vieques.  I know, cuz I saw it in between meetings.  Arghhh!  That’s what the month of May is like — one wedding after another.   In my case, it’s six weddings in the next three weeks.  I’m calling it “wedding boot camp” and if I survive, I get to start sleeping more than four hours a night.  Tonight we spent more than two whole hours stuffing welcome bags in preparation for the arrival of this week’s happy couple — Sarah McKeon and Gregory Lehrer.  These are some serious welcome bags — and it made me think that it’s probably time to revisit the subject again.

The Effects of Sleep Deprivation on the Bride and the Wedding Planner

May 9th, 2008 Sandy Malone

Hola Wedding Friends!

It was another beautiful day in Vieques where the closest I got to the beach was gazing across the Malecon while I had a meeting with a vendor across the street.  Bummer.  I have to keep reminding myself that I’m taking a few weeks off in July and I will get to pretend I’m on vacation during that time!  I’m exhausted and in full prep mode for the six weddings that I have coming up over the next four weeks.  Sleep deprivation is a nasty thing.  It can make things that aren’t such a big deal seem insurmountable.  It can make perfectly nice people crabby and detail-oriented people forgetful.  It is not a quality that you want in a wedding planner, so I do my best to lose sleep during the prep period before a wedding so I can get some sleep the night before the big event.  The effects of sleep deprivation on brides are even more dramatic.  That’s what we’re talking about today.
