Using an “A” List and a “B” List for Your Destination Wedding Invitations

April 24th, 2008 Sandy Malone

Hi there!

I’ll have to keep this short and sweet tonight because I need to get some sleep!  And it may be a couple of days before I can write again because I have a fabulous wedding this weekend at Hacienda Tamarindo (where I got married) and I have to be up bright and early to prep for the wedding rehearsal and the big pig roast beach party the bride and groom are throwing for their guests before their private tour of the bio bay.  So let’s have a quick chat about structuring your destination wedding guest list in a manner that won’t offend people you care about.

What to Do When the Wedding Party Is Behaving Badly

April 22nd, 2008 Sandy Malone

Hola Brides and Grooms!

I’d like to dedicate this blog to a very special bride of mine who has a nightmare of a wedding party.  Usually, it’s the bridesmaids who are holy terrors and have to be bitch-slapped into shape.  This time, the groomsmen are the ones behaving like a bunch of bratty girls.

Bridesmaid Dresses — Wouldn’t It Be Easier to Have Everybody Just Go Naked?

April 20th, 2008 Sandy Malone

Hi Everybody!

What the heck is going on with bridesmaid dresses this year?  I’m going to have to keep this post short and sweet because I have lots to do for my brides this morning, but I had to take a quick break to write up a little rant about my least favorite piece of clothing!

Trust Your Wedding Planner to Show You the “Hot” Spots and “Not” Spots for Your Wedding Venue

April 18th, 2008 Sandy Malone

Hello Friends!

Last week I was busy running some clients around the island on their pre-planning trip.  I showed them several different venues and now it’s time to make a decision.  I’m terrified they’re going to choose one specific venue that they asked to see because I absolutely, positively hate planning a wedding there.  I took them to see it because they found it online and asked to see it — but I would never recommend it to a client in a hundred million years.  So why, you might ask, would they decide to choose an event venue that their own wedding planner has advised them against?

“PWS” or Pre-Wedding Syndrome — Tips on Surviving the Last Few Weeks Before Your Destination Wedding

April 17th, 2008 Sandy Malone

Hola Mis Amigos!

Today’s blog is about staying focused in the weeks prior to your destination wedding.  If you’ve hired a good wedding planner and she’s done everything right in setting things up for your destination wedding weekend, the home stretch is pretty easy.  But it’s important that you stay focused on your “to do” list and don’t spend your time obsessing over other little things that pop up in the back of your mind when you’re trying to sleep.  This is the dangerous time when many brides experience severe bouts of “PWS,” otherwise known as Pre-Wedding Syndrome.

How to Tell if a Caribbean Destination Wedding Planner Is Legit

April 10th, 2008 Sandy Malone

Hola Mis Amigas!

It was brought to my attention last week that other wedding planners who would like to get a foothold on Vieques have been approaching my vendors asking for copies of my schedules, contracts, supply orders, and other propriety information.  Basically, somebody is trying to put together a blueprint of how I plan my clients’ weddings.  I guess it’s a compliment, but it’s also highly unethical.  It also makes me feel really sorry for the clients of somebody who would need to steal my work product in order to plan a wedding.  Obviously, it’s going to be a complete disaster on the big day.

Dos and Don’ts of Caribbean Destination Wedding Invitations

April 8th, 2008 Sandy Malone

Hello Destination Brides and Grooms!

Today we’re going to talk about wedding invitations.  And I should start by saying that there are no rules about your invitations to your destination wedding.  But there a few basic guidelines and tips that make life a little bit easier.

Fixing What’s Broken in Your Caribbean Destination Wedding Plans

April 5th, 2008 Sandy Malone

Hola!  It’s time for another one of my rants!

Let me begin with the disclosure that I’m going to use some very bad language in this blog.  If the “f” word offends you, then you might prefer to skip this one.  I’m sorry — but the very basis of the rant I’m about to begin starts with naughty words.

Sandy’s Definition of “Island Cocktail Attire” for Destination Wedding Guests

April 3rd, 2008 Sandy Malone

Hello Everybody!

It’s the first really rainy day we’ve had in four months and wouldn’t you know it, I’ve got a  houseguest.  My husband Bill’s youngest son — Greg — is here in Vieques for the first time and we had what felt like a monsoon last night.  I love the rain when we’re sleeping, but it’s supposed to stop before we get up!  Boo Hiss!  So it’s not a beach day.

Today I’m going to talk about a topic we’ve discussed before because I’ve had a couple of brides ask me for clarification about it — how do you tell your guests what to wear to your Caribbean destination wedding?

Fantastic Activities Your Guests Can Do Without You During Your Destination Wedding Weekend

April 2nd, 2008 Sandy Malone

Good Morning Everybody!

It’s been a busy, busy few weeks on Vieques Island.  It was definitely high tourist season — and Spring Break too!  Since when has my little island become a hot spot for college kids on Spring Break?  So bizarre!  But it got me thinking about today’s topic — things for tourists to do on Vieques Island.
