Hi Everybody!
Today’s entry is a fun one — and it’s purely subjective. Everything you’re going to read below is my opinion. That’s why it’s my blog, right? But you’re reading it, so you must think I have some clue what I’m talking about. So here we go!

Hi there!
It’s beautiful in Vieques right now. Almost feels like an Indian summer day in November back in DC. It’s breezy and cool, but fantastic on the beach in the daytime. I wish I had more playtime to sit in the sun!
Some wedding couples want to have “local” flavor in their wedding menus, and some want something more upscale and traditional from home. You can have whatever you want depending on the caterer you choose.

Hello!
So many of my brides struggle with the question of whether to include little people on the invitation list for their destination wedding. I say do what you want to do — if there are children who you want to include in your wedding party or as guests, go ahead and invite them. Just be aware ahead of time that we’re going to need to plan to accommodate them so that they have fun too. Most of your wedding weekend will be geared around activities for your adult guests.

Hola!
I’m crazy busy getting caught up after last weekend’s wedding so I’m going to keep this brief. Planning your ceremony is probably the easiest part of planning your wedding anyway, mostly because I have my bridal couples communicate directly with the minister about what they want to do.

Hello Brides and Grooms!
I’m riding a total high today because the wedding last night was a huge success! Megan Conner and Jason Humphries are now Mr. and Mrs. Jason Humphries (or Mr. and Mrs. Megan Conner — it depends who you ask) and it was a fantastic event for them, their families and their friends. We’ll talk about whether pre-planning trips are a good idea in a minute, but first I need to boast a little bit about the amazing wedding that Megan and her mom Marsha, and I planned.

Hi there!
Okay, so you’ve gotten engaged and now you’re planning your destination wedding. How soon do you start packing for a wedding that is several months in the future? Start packing yesterday.

Hola!
This one is really going to be short and sweet folks! The title alone is self explanatory.
Do not bring your most valuable jewelry for your destination wedding. No Grandma’s pearls or antique chokers that have been in the family for generations. I don’t want you to leave that stuff in your hotel room or villa while you’re on the beach, and you’re definitely not wearing those pearls into the water.

Hi everybody!
I’m cheating and writing this a little ahead because I know tomorrow is going to be pure chaos. All of the guests for the big wedding this weekend will be arriving and my cell phone will inevitably be ringing off the hook with people who need directions from the palm tree and the iguana (yeah, a real iguana) to where they’re supposed to be staying. And I’d like to hit the beach for a few hours in the morning if I can squeeze it in :) So let’s talk about elopements — true elopements like when nobody knows you’re running off to get married — and some ideas for making yours extra special.

Hello Loyal Readers!
I’m flying out the door in a minute to meet with a May bride here on a pre-planning trip. Then it’s to the ferry dock to pick up this week’s wedding couple’s parents. It seems the well-intentioned bride and groom had double-booked themselves. And seeing as how the bride’s mother has been kind enough to pay me throughout this process (and I’m dying to meet her), I volunteered to fill in the gap and pick up the bride’s family when they arrive in Vieques. But before I run out the door to do all this, I wanted to write about tan lines and Caribbean destination weddings.

Hey Everybody!
Cupcakes are in. They are not the “new pink.” Nor are they the “new orange.” They’re more like brown — not quite as classic as black but definitely a versatile favorite we all work into our wardrobes now. Am I making any sense? My point is that every other one of my brides wants cupcakes instead of a traditional wedding cake.
