A Primer on Destination Wedding Invitation Etiquette

September 30th, 2007 Sandy Malone

Hello Brides and Grooms! I spent the day on the beach at Sun Bay today — there couldn’t have been more than 30 people along the whole mile-plus stretch of beach. The water was perfect — not too warm like it can be this time of year — and there was a breeze that kept me from getting too hot while I stretched out and read bridal magazines. Yes, I read them. I also subscribe to them. It’s homework for a wedding planner. As I flipped through a Puerto Rican bridal magazine ($17.95 — what the heck is that about?), I came up with today’s topic.

Sand Blending Ceremonies: A Great Alternative to the Unity Candle on a Breezy Beach

September 28th, 2007 Sandy Malone

Hey there! When I got married in Vieques more than three years ago, nobody had ever heard of doing a sand blending ceremony. I read it about it in some random bridal magazine and tore out the article, and then did some digging online to find the only three or four web sites that had anything about it.

Are You a Good Candidate for a Caribbean Destination Wedding?

September 27th, 2007 Sandy Malone

Hi everybody! I’ve gotten behind on my blogging again — my apologies! It’s been a busy week. I’m in the process of actively planning eight different weddings right now, both in Vieques and in Old San Juan. One of them is particularly challenging, but it led me to my topic tonight — how to know if you’re a good candidate for a destination wedding.

Your Wedding Party Will Really “Party” at Your Island Wedding

September 23rd, 2007 Sandy Malone

It’s been so busy at Weddings in Vieques this week. Several new clients came on board with really big guest lists so I’ve been a busy girl finding venues, accommodations and rental cars to haul all their guests around the island. September is a dead month on Vieques, so it’s hard to reach people. Lots of folks close shop and head off the island for the whole month. That’s why it’s so easy to get really great deals on destination weddings during the off season, especially if you’re booking in advance. But that’s a topic for another blog entry — the Top Ten Reasons to Get Married During Hurricane Season.

The Best Way to Preserve Your Wedding Bouquet if You’re Having a Destination Wedding

September 17th, 2007 Sandy Malone

Hi everybody! Today’s topic is quick and easy. There’s only one good way to get your bouquet preserved if you’re having a destination wedding. I don’t usually recommend specific vendors in my blog, but this is the exception to the rule. The company is called Freeze Frame It and they’re based in Ohio.

Every Penny Counts — Getting Discounts on Commercial Airlines

September 14th, 2007 Sandy Malone

Hello Brides and Grooms! It always surprises me that wedding couples so rarely ask me about helping to get them discounts with airlines and rental cars when we’re talking about the services I provide. It’s like nobody knows that the big airlines give group discounts for special events like weddings. Not all the commercial airlines offer discounts, and they don’t offer them all of the time — but it’s absolutely worth asking. Ten percent is a nice little savings when you figure how many of your guests will benefit from it.
